*We all have ‘off’ days, some have them more often than others but we all get them. Those days when the self sabotage is never ending and the feel of being unmotivated isn’t ideal, I have the constant chatters in my brain from ‘you’re not good enough’ to ‘YES YOU ARE’. The mornings I wake up and start scrolling through my instagram on an ‘off’ day that’s when the self sabotage starts.
The feeling of not being motivated and feeling down is a good sign that you need a break. Now I’m not talking a week’s holiday kinda break before you think “not everyone can afford a break” what I mean is, just taking yourself off for a moment and having a little bit of time to just be by yourself!
I’ve come up with a routine for myself when I have my ‘off’ days, which always helps me stay motivated and gets rid of the unwanted thoughts going through my head.
TAKE A MOMENT – We are constantly thinking, what are we having for lunch? Dinner? What shall I drink, maybe water but I kinda want champagne or vodka?, oh need to do the washing too, my content doesn’t look good enough this week maybe I should try something else or maybe it is good enough? I don’t know? I mean the never ending chatter and the battle of conversation we have throughout the whole day of every day is crazy. Imagine the world of good it would do if you just take some time to sit still every now and then? So when I have my off days, I’ll post in the morning (as always) and then I’ll take myself off the internet for a bit just so I can be content with my own thoughts!
HAVE A WORD – When these negative thoughts happen, we have to like brush them off ASAP because you know the spiral downwards if you continue with the self sabotage right? I mean everyone see’s the pretty gals on the internet and you don’t wanna start trying to compare yourself to them because it’s just not needed. you are you, and that is your power. I ALWAYS take myself away and have a word with myself, give myself a telling off like you’re good, you’re good enough, you’re pretty enough, you take nice photos. Give yourself some self love and always remember how far you’ve come and what you’ve learnt. GRATITUDE, is one of the most important things in life, I probably didn’t realise this until recently, you have to be grateful for what you have before you can allow more great things to enter your life (sorry don’t care how cheesy that is) it’s so true.
YOGA – yoga, hands down, is one of the best activities you can do when you aren’t feeling 100% it just makes me feel amazing after a session, so I’ve vowed to myself to go at least once a week from now on. If you haven’t tried it, why don’t you go to your local class? It’s not about being as flexible as the girl next to you, it’s about being in tune with your body and letting your breathing control the moves. Give yourself a hug laying down on your back, with your knees to your chest. I always feel revitalised when I’ve been to yoga.
GET SHIT DONE – Write that list, buy that planner, you gotta do what you gotta do. Ignore what everyone is doing, who cares? Just get it done. I’ve always been quite a straight forward girl, If I wanna do something, I’m gonna do it. Priorities are the most important, my phone got stolen out of my hands tonight and I’m sat here 2 o’clock in the morning rewriting my post because I always post on a Monday (it was pre written on my notes) but oh well. Once you’ve had a word with yourself, done some yoga and meditation you’ll be in the right mood to get whatever it is you need to do, done for sure!
